National Drive

I haven't really been sitting around all year while Bella and the boy did all the travelling. In October, Giorgio and I went to the Kentucky Horse Park for the National Drive and ADS meeting. It was supposed to be a vacation, but we worked twice a day! Very pretty place though, and relaxing since there was no competition. Here is a photo with Keith, Bobbe and Mary (hidden). Mary has Dartmoors too! For more pix of the drive, go to http://www.americandrivingsociety.org,

Oklahoma CDE

Bella and Giorgio returned from the CDE in Oklahoma yesterday. They did great! I don't know how Bella does it with the "Boy," but she seems to like working with him. She says it was really cold on Friday for dressage, especially since they had new clip jobs, so they got to wear the quarter sheets to stay warm. Now that Giorgio is even wearing MY clothes! And yes, that is NOT Keith on back in the picture. He was helping at the event since one of the judges got snowed in and couldn't come. Jerry McLennan took his seat for dressage and Mom said she was great ... no wiggling around like Dad!

Briefly, they did their best Dressage test yet (even though the stupid boy still won't back up!). They were the fastest Intermediate entry in the Marathon (even though they t-boned on an obstacle ... again) and were also best in the cones. Wow.

Thanks to Linda Earley, you can see a video of their cones at:

Mom has promised me she will tell the rest of tales of the summer eventually.

Told you so

Well, I hate to say I told you so, but Mom really misses me. Even though the Boy (Giorgio) did a wonderful job in Nebraska at his first full CDE, Bella was her usual "nervous Nellie" in dressage. They were ok though in cones (except Dad made them go too slow) and just 2-5 seconds slower in each hazard than the other Intermediate entry, Mary Neal. Not bad for Giorgio's first time in the hazards! Of course, I am still faster...

Anyway, Mom says I will get to go to the fancy Laurels CDE (PA) in September if I can get back into shape. I think I am a lovely shape - fat and slick. Apparently, the shine is fine, but the fat has to go ... sigh. She is driving me this Saturday in an Arena Driving Trial. Just me! I get ALL the attention! Then back to road work ...

Best of all, I get to go to Pony Club Camp next week with Bella. We will be doing driving lessons twice a day so all 44 kids will get a chance to drive us. I just love the Pony Clubbers and can't wait to see my friends from San Angelo! It should be a really fun week. I just hope Mom packs enough cookies...

I've been "nagging" mom to update my blog, but she says she has been really busy. Too busy to blog? That's ridiculous!

Anyway, here's what's been happening on the farm. Janey had a baby girl. They named her Lone Star Kinsey (Zee for short) after the character Kinsey Milhone in the Sue Grafton mystery books. They live out front with the other moms and fillies now, so I don't get to visit them much.

Bella and Giorgio went to the NTW Arena Driving Trial a couple of weeks ago and Keith drove Giogio by himself (Giorgio as a single, that is). Bella says he was pretty nervous but settled down and did a nice job. (Bella knows all about being nervous at horse shows.) She says they both worked really hard in dressage when mom drove them on Friday and Sunday in lessons with Larry Brinker. Heidi has been taking them to swim, but I haven't gotten to go. I miss being part of the action!
